Dr. Susan AmirianDr. Susan Amirian, a designer and educator, began her professional career in publishing, serving ten years at Conde Nast, art directing Mademoiselle, Self, and Vogue. Her editorial work was recognized by the Art Directors Clubs of New York and New Jersey. Her freelance clients included fashion retailers and magazine and book publishers such as Hearst, Conde Nast, Viking, and Harmony Books. Moving from publishing to digital media, Dr. Amirian served as the director of Internet operations for the NHL New Jersey Devils. At the same time, as adjunct and later full-time faculty, she taught visual communication and Web certification in degree and professional programs at Caldwell College, Bloomfield College Advanced Technology Institute, Berkeley College, and Montclair State University. She also served six years at MSU in the Office of Public Information, College of Education, and Information Technology where she supported teachers in their use of technologies. Currently, Dr. Amirian is Assistant Professor at East Stroudsburg University in the department of Media Communication & Technology. She teaches undergraduate and graduate professional media and teacher education courses in the School of Professional Studies. Her consulting includes teaching undergraduate professional media online for the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, and she is developing Web-based professional development for K-12 teachers in the state of Ohio Department of Education at the Ohio School Net. |
